If this is your first post to read, you should really press rewind. So late on a Monday night, Lee decided to buy our house. Then she scheduled the inspection for the next day! And then at some point we took this pic and I regretted not leaving my hair fixed for ten minutes longer. Since Lee decided to buy the house and since I had a trip planned that weekend to go to NYC, I had a lot to do in a short amount of time. I only had three days to make it all happen. Could I get it all together before I left? Of course I could!!! Tuesday after work I picked up the kids, met the inspector and Lee at the house, and waited for Matt to get home. We had a plan. I always have a plan- unless I am at the beach, but that is another story for another day. The plan was to let the inspector finish at the big house, go meet Mr. B at the lot and tell him we wanted to purchase it, somehow find a rent house, and then touch base with Lee and get paperwork signed. All this had to be done before 5:45. I mean- I had to get Carys to dance on time. Matt walked in the door about 4:30 and we drove to the lot once the inspector had finished. On the way, Matt mentioned he had found a rent house right down the street that might work so he called about it. While talking to Mr. B (he is quite the talker), the lady called back about the rent house. After listening to the lady talk for a minute, I heard Matt say, "Mrs. Lily?" After he hung up, I looked at him and said, "Mrs. Lily owns the rent house?" You see, Mrs. Lily is our neighbor. She also sold us the lot that we built our big house on eight years ago. Mrs. Lily is a real estate agent. And a landlord- who knew!!! ?o we purchased the lot with a handshake until we could get paperwork completed and headed to meet Mrs. Lily at the rent house. It was .2 mile down the same street- just in the other direction. So the lot, our house, and the rent house are all located within walking distance. When we got to the house, I immediately knew it was going to be perfect. Then something unexpected came out of Mrs. Lily's mouth. She said, "You know this rent house was on your property before I subdivided that land? It is 91 years old. I picked it up, moved it over here, and fixed it up to rent." Now if that isn't the coolest thing ever then I don't know what is! The rent house used to be where we built the big house!!! God, you are so cool. We walked in the house to see if it was going to work for our family. It was the cleanest rental unit I have ever seen in my life. I didn't even need to walk through the house to know it was going to be just right. I mean, I did walk through the house, but just so she wouldn't think I was crazy. After paying a deposit and agreeing to a background check we were good to go. We could move in four days after I returned from NYC!!! On a side note- the rent house was 1600 HSF- a downsize of 1100 HSF. Baby steps. Inspection completed and passed. Check. House sold. Check. Lot bought. Check. Rent house found. Check. What time is it you ask? 5:30 pm. One hour and fifteen minutes after Matt got home from work. And in case you are wondering- we even made it to dance class on time. I left for NYC at peace- mostly. Knowing I had to move as soon as I got back was not peaceful, but the way that God lined everything up for us in such an amazing way was so reassuring. I didn't cry one single time. I haven't been sad one single time. I kept trying to convince myself that I was sad. My friends kept trying to convince me to be sad, but I just wasn't. It was just right. I knew He had a plan. Now if I could just figure out what the next part is... For now I have turned the rental house into a home. And we like it just fine. Well, all except Cooper. He calls it The Awful House. Next up...the move out of the big house and into the awful house and the meeting with the draftsman!!! I will put it this way...I have been researching building codes on this beautiful Saturday. Have a great weekend!
