Hot bath. Is that too much to ask? What do I miss the most about the big house? Well let me tell you. I miss my tankless hot water heater and its neverending supply of warmth and goodness. In the awful house, you can get one good shower out of the hot water heater. That is not enough for me. Not nearly enough. There are five people in our family. That means we are constantly doing dishes and laundry. Ok...so maybe I only get to the laundry about once a week but that is beside the point. I love baths, but by the time the kids are bathed and the dishes are done, there is no hot water left. This is a travesty. On Christmas Day I was sick. Yeah I know...just add it to the pile of junk that 2016 has thrown my way. (I am counting down the days until the new year!) All I did on Christmas was lie on the couch. And I might've taken a four hour nap. But who is counting? My body ached. Lifting my arm was a mighty feat of strength. So I thought...a bath- a bath will make me feel better!!! Then I looked over at my son and noticed his head was wet. Of course he had just taken a bath to use his new LUSH moldable soap from his stocking. Sigh. I was going to have to wait, but it was going to be worth it. So I waited an hour for the hot water to replenish, I grabbed my luxurious LUSH bath bomb, and I ran my bath water. I dropped the bath bomb (well actually it was half of the bath bomb because- duh- those things are expensive! spread the love!) into the water and listened to the fizzing sound as it dissolved into the water. The water turned a lovely shade of purplish blue. The sweet aroma filled the air. I dipped my big toe into the water. Cold. It was cold! Well, maybe warm, but it was not hot! I flipped on the heater hoping that would help and sank into the lukewarm water.
No. The heater didn't help. This was miserable. I had a fever, my body ached, and now I had wasted my bath bomb in a cold bath. Think. Chamie, think. How can you solve this problem? It didn't take long before I had an idea!!! But would it work??? "Matt!!! Matt!!! Can you come here?!?!?! Matt!!!" No answer. "Matt!!!" Still no answer. Maybe my voice was weak since I was sick. I mustered up all I had within, "MATT!!!" And then I finally got a response! "What do you want? I have been outside the door answering you." Matt replied. "Oh. sorry. I couldn't hear you over this heater.," I said. This solution was not getting off to a good start. I put on my super sweet sick eyes, took a deep breath, and said, "Can you get that big pot and boil me some water? My bath is cold, and I am sick, and I really need warm water." "I suppose so," he said. YES! I have the best husband ever. So I waited for my hot, boiling water to warm my bath. Well, it turns out when you are in frigid bath water, time passes slowly. As the time passed, the water got colder. I was tempted to get out, but NO! I was not giving up. After twenty-five minutes or so, small icebergs started forming in my blue bath water and I started singing My Heart Will Go On- together now... "Every night in my dreams I see you, I feel you, This is how I know you go on..." Then finally I heard a knock at the door. My very own Leo had come to rescue me. I now had a hot bath! And then Leo- I mean Matt- said, " Would you like me to start another pot?" That is love, people. And of course I said yes!!! In case you are wondering, one large pot of boiling water will sufficiently heat a five foot bathtub filled with frigid water. And in case you are also wondering, I will have a tankless hot water heater in the little house. Priorities. I woke up the next day feeling like myself again! AND I also got an email that the next set of plans was ready to be picked up! Good bye, 2016. Be good to me, 2017!
