I know, I know. Cut a girl some slack. You've been too busy watching election results to catch an update anyway. Now where were we? Catch up here if you are late to the party! It was Monday night and I had just finished working my shift for the school fundraiser at the local pizza joint. Matt brought the kids by so we could have supper together after my shift. As we were leaving, I pulled alongside Matt in the parking lot because I needed to tell him something. Yes I know we had just eaten dinner together, but I always forget to say the most important things until the opportunity is over. I noticed that Matt was on the phone. Why is he always busy when I need him the most?!?! I thought- surely it can't be that important! Who actually calls people at this day in age anyway? So I rolled down the window, waved to get his attention, hung out of the window a little, called his name, and do you know what he did?!?!?!?!? HE WAVED ME OFF!!!!!!!! Oh no he did not. So I said, "UGH, " and sped off with my nose pointed toward the sky. Then a few minutes later he called me. He didn't comment on my behavior ten minutes prior so I knew that either a) he had said his daily prayer for patience with me that morning or b) the phone call was a good one. Or both- perhaps both a and b happened. I had barely answered the phone when he exclaimed, "That was Mr. B!" "Excuse me?" I replied. "He said the deal fell through with the other people and the lot is available again if we are interested." "Ummmm....." was all I could manage to say. I mean really? I had just gotten Melancholy Matt back to his normal self and now this again?!?!?!? But this time was different. This time I didn't have a buyer for the house. This time I was going to have to pay a real estate agent. This time... And then I whispered to myself the same words I had spoken to Matt eight days earlier, "You know if it is meant to be we will get that lot." "Chamie, are you still there? Did you hear what I said? The lot is available," I heard Matt say on the end of the line. "Yes! I have to go! I have to text Lee!" I shouted. Immediately I stopped what I was doing and text Lee. (At this point Lee had three weeks to be out of her house.) She had a contract on another house, but I knew I should text her anyway. She called me almost right away and told me she had just gotten the inspection back on the other house that day and there were some issues that had her concerned. I told her that my house was available if she wanted to buy it. I didn't want her to feel pressured, but I also wanted her to know we were serious about selling. After a little discussion (like ten minutes), Lee decided to buy the house! I sold my house without an agent!!! Do you know how much money that saved me? Then it set in...I have three weeks to be out of my house and I have nowhere to go. Oh...and I am leaving for NYC in three days so that gives me two weeks to move. Ummmm...Dear Lord, I don't know it, but I know you have a plan. Help a girl out here. I tried to capture excitement. Maybe I should've just taken a selfie. There. That is better.
